REVELATION 1:1-2 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw--that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

REVELATION 1:9-11 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea."

REVELATION 1:12-16 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone "like a son of man," dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

VIII.   OUT OF HIS MOUTH CAME A SHARP DOUBLE EDGED SWORD

IX.          HIS FACE LIKE THE SHINING SUN

 

 

REVELATION 1:17-18 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

REVELATION 2:1 "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands:

I.                  TO THE PASTOR OF THE CHURCH

II.              FROM JESUS WHO HOLDS THE ANGELS IN HIS HANDS AND WALKS AMONG THE CHURCHES

REVELATION 2:2-3 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

III.           JESUS KNOWS OUR GOOD DEEDS

REVELATION 2:4-5 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

REVEALTION 2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

REVELATION 2:8 "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again.

I. LEADER OF THE CHURCH OF SMYRNA

II. FIRST AND LAST, WHO DIED AND CAME TO LIFE AGAIN

      A. EVERYTHING JESUS IS, IS WHAT WE WILL NEED IN LIFE.

         1. IF YOU NEED COMFORT, HE IS THE COMFORTER

          2. IF YOU NEED PROVISIONS, THE LORD WILL PROVIDE

          3. IF YOU NEED SAVATION, JESUS IS THE SAVIOR

          4. WHAT DO YOU NEED JESUS TO BE FOR YOU RIGHT NOW?

 

REVELATION 2:9-10 I know your afflictions and your poverty——yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

REVELATION 2:11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.
